The 7 intelligences we have............
Although all of us have 100 billion brain cells, most of us use only a tiny fraction of our potential.
The question is then how to use it?
Dr. Howard Gardener at Harvard University points to the fact that we have 7 intelligences. Each intelligence is of similar importance in reaching our human full potential.
They are a common sense and we can recognize them as natural talents, each of us has to a greater or lesser extent.
1- Linguistic intelligence: (talent with language)
The ability to write and speak well. Many people like to read novels or write poetry.
2- Mathematical/Logical intelligence: (talent with math, logic and systems)
The ability to deal well with numbers and think logically.
Engineers, Scientists and accountants would have this intelligence.
3- Visual/ Spatial intelligence: (Visual talent)
The ability to visualize how things will eventually look. To imagine things in your mind's.
Designers, architects and artists would have this intelligence but we also use it to remember the direction, to navigate and to draw as well.
4- Musical intelligence:
The ability to create and interpret music. Most of us have a good musical intelligence, and we can all develop it. All of us remember at least few songs.
5- Bodily / Physical intelligence:
We use it when we move well, run, dance, build and construct something.
6- Inter-Personal intelligence:
The ability to communicate well and get along with others. Many make others feel at ease, to read others reactions and to be sympathetic to others feelings. And this is a vital intelligence; we use it to be a good parent, a supportive colleague or a good teacher.
7- Intra-personal Intelligence:
An ability for quite, objective self-analysis. This leads to being able to understand your own behavior and feeling.
We use this intelligence to create our goals and plans, and to study our own successes and mistakes as a guide to future improvement.
All the 7 intelligences are equal in value.
The new definition of intelligence: It is the ability to create useful products (anything can be a product ex. Idea, service…..) and solve everyday problems.
Previously, intelligence was defined much more narrowly. It was mostly related to academic performance. This is because academic subjects are largely taught through just 2 intelligences linguistic and mathematical/logical intelligences.
Therefore academic success is not the only way to demonstrate intelligence.
Conclusion:
We all have the capacity that we need to be excellent learners.
Human brain is limitless and most people use only a fraction of their true potential and this is because:
1- They lack self-confidence.
2- They lack an organized approach to learning.
3- They don't know how to learn so that they use their preferred learning style and their full range of intelligence.
Next we will have a plan of six stages of learning.
